The Santa Fe Opera Adds Hippotizer Rackoon Media Servers

SANTA FE, NM – Barbizon Light of the Rockies has provided the Santa Fe Opera with five Hippotizer Rackoon media servers, four Panasonic 20K projectors, and a remote Zookeeper PC for networked Rackoon control.  The first show this season to use the new media server system was Carmen, followed by a double-bill, The Impressario and Le Rossignol.

The Prodigy at Sonisphere Festival Add Impact with Showline Strobes

KNEBWORTH, UK - Seeking to create a spectacular end to the Sonisphere festival's opening day, LD Andy Hurst reworked an earlier design for The Prodigy. "The design concept was based on an air hanger for a Harrier Jump Jet," explains Hurst. "We took the idea from their 2013 New Year's Eve show at the O2. It was a favorite for the band, so they asked me to adapt it to our festival run this summer." The revised design rigged the 84 SL NITRO 510 and 72 510C strobes in mixed groups of 10. His design saw them blast white and colored light over the audience, generating an electric rave atmosphere.

Journey and Steve Miller Band Tour Rig Includes Vari-Lite Gear

Faced with the challenge of sharing the same rig for two iconic bands, LD Kevin Christopher chose 38 VL3500 Wash and 25 VL3000 Spot luminaires from Philips Vari-Lite to be the lighting backbone for the complete tour. “In the design for the Journey tour, we have a large video wall that we treat as a surface for I-MAG, so I knew we needed automated lighting that could punch through the intensity of the video wall,” began Christopher. “During the design process, we looked at several luminaires for the job, but at the end of the day, we found that the power, performance and reliability of the VL3500 Wash and VL3000 Spot luminaires were second to none.”
