iWeiss Puts Rapid Development of Custom Lifting Winch in the Spotlight

FAIRVIEW, NJ - To highlight its ability to develop custom products quickly, iWeiss issued a press release showcasing a custom lifting winch that the company was able to design and manufacture within a two week time frame. The development of the custom winch, which has a 1 ton capacity and 35 feet of travel at 60 ft. /minute, was overseen by Paul Kelm, the company's automation & production manager.

Microsoft's Xbox Media Event Lit with Elation ELAR Q1 Fixtures

LOS ANGELES - Microsoft's press conference for its Xbox offerings at the E3 video gaming convention, held at the Galen Center here shortly before the convention got underway, featured 136 Elation ELAR Q1 color changing Par light fixtures. The ELAR Q1s were used to enhance the set from two locations, the first a grid of 100 fixtures directly behind the Xbox logo, covering most of the upstage scenic; and the other on the set’s traveling scenic walls, where 36 fixtures were used to create accents and wisps of green highlights on the set structure.

Standard Relating to ACN Interoperability Posted for Public Review

NEW YORK - An industry draft standard relating to ACN interoperability, BSR E1.30-11, EPI 33 - ACN Root Layer Protocol Operation on TCP, has been posted for public review. BSR E1.30-11 is a Profile for Interoperability (EPI) to be used with ANSI E1.17, which is commonly called "ACN" for Architecture for Control Networks. EPIs related to ANSI E1.17 specify how conforming implementations are to operate in particular environments or situations in order to guarantee interoperability. This part of E1.30, EPI 33, is an interoperability profile that specifies the operation and formats for the ACN Root Layer Protocol operating on TCP.

2014 Tony Awards Visuals Relied on Hippotizer Media Servers

NEW YORK CITY - This year’s Tony Awards were programmed by Peter Vincent Acken who designed a set-up using a total of 192 layers running over more than 48 DMX universes. The entire set-up comprised 12 active Hippotizer HD outputs, all genlocked and controlled by a grandMA2 lighting console. Acken built his own custom Hippotizer DMX personality to enable control of the 192 layers over the 48 universes. The Hippotizer HDs fed their content to 26 discrete surfaces comprised of 9 and 7 mil LED and HD LED monitors.

GLENDALE, CA - Kinetic Lighting, based here, has developed its own cross platform app to streamline its operations. The new software works on Windows, Mac and iOS devices and is designed to streamline rental and sales inventory management, orders, repair tickets, truck schedules, crew schedules, contacts, requisitions and purchase orders. The system emails reminders and alerts to users--for instance, a notice to the appropriate staff member when inventory levels fall below certain thresholds, or that an event crew needs to be beefed up - helping the company guard against costly oversights.
