Regional Winners Announced for PLSN Hometown Hero

The readers of PLSN have spoken and we are pleased to announce the Regional Winners of the PLSN Hometown Heroes who are now the finalists for the Parnelli Hometown Hero – Lighting Company of the Year Award. PLSN readers voted for their choice of the six top regional lighting companies in North America—one for each of five U.S. regions, and a sixth for all of Canada. This narrowed the field from 36 to six regional winners, who will appear on the Parnelli Awards ballot. The ballot goes live Jan. 16, 2023 for the 21st Parnelli Awards voting. The Darkroom Creative Draws on GLP Classics for Walker Hayes’ Arena Tour

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Walker Hayes recently embarked on his first headline arena tour, with the help of The Darkroom Creative (Seth Jackson and Nathan Alves), who were responsible for the stage lighting. Helping them build their set was a bunch of classic but timeless ‘impression’ LED fixtures from GLP – notably around 60 of the compact X4 S LED washlights and X4 Bar 20 battens, agile workhorses which helped make the production budget stretch. Survival of the Adaptable

In terms of human evolution, Herbert Spencer coined the term “survival of the fittest” in his Principles of Biology in 1864. In our ever-changing industry, we also see dramatic changes. In my lifetime, I have watched the transition from tungsten to arc to LED, and now we are seeing lasers start to flood the market. The same tools that I used even 20 years ago have become obsolete. They have been replaced with newer, more effective, and far more complex gadgets. But for us, it seems, a far more accurate description is “survival of the adaptable.”

Visual Monkeys and Ayrton Illuminate Linnanmäki’s Carnival of Light in Finland

Helsinki’s Linnanmäki is the oldest and most popular amusement park in Finland.
