ATLANTA — Six Flags over Georgia’ 27-year-old Monster Plantation attraction recently underwent a multimillion-dollar upgrade and was reopened recently as the Monster Mansion. Gary Goddard Entertainment (GGE) produced and designed the new attraction, with Lightswitch providing the new lighting design. “This attraction is a long loved local favorite,” said Michael Lagrotteria, associate lighting designer on the project. For the new design, “we chose to use a lot color and break ups. The goal was to create depth and texture throughout.”

“We listened carefully to the concerns and needs of the creative director, Taylor Jeffs, and art director Bob Baranick,” said Edward S. Marks, lead lighting designer. “We also worked closely with the local systems integrator, Entertainment Design Group and sound Designer Ted King.

“The design features gear from ETC, Rosco, GAM, TMB and Color Kinetics,” Marks added. “From design creation to opening day was roughly 15 weeks. Working with the Six Flags and GGE team headed by producer Barry Kemper and project manager Kirk Powell was a joy.”

“The Monster Mansion renovation was an unqualified success,” said Dan Weinberg, Six Flags VP of entertainment. “  The vibrant colors and lighting bring the ride to life.  The entire Goddard team is to be commended for creating something truly special for guests of all ages.”

Lightswitch and GGE have worked together on Glow in the Park Parades and other projects.
