NEW YORK — During the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, Vanity Fair used a 4-foot-by-41-foot Barco LED wall programmed to resemble a large marquee as a key visual element for an event held at the State Supreme Court building in downtown Manhattan.
The LED wall was divided into two sections, forming a portico into the building’s rotunda. Logos for Tribeca Film, Deluxe and Panavision were animated in a repeating sequence.
“The Hippotizer allowed us to sequence and dissolve the graphics using a number of layers,” said LD Adam Bassett. “We also utilized the Hippotizer’s animation and effect features to create interesting and dynamic transitions between the various base content.”
A Hippotizer Stage V3 media server controlled the LED marquee. “The Hippotizer is brilliant,” says Michael Lee, lead programmer for the Vanity Fair event. “Simple, elegant, and interfacing was never easier. We used a grandMA console and it was like programming a moving light, but for a media server.”
Main Light Industries of Delaware supplied the Hippotizer and BML Video Services provided the Barco LED wall. All other gear and installation for the Vanity Fair event was supplied by Bestek Lighting and Staging of New York.
