Chauvet Answers the Call for Texas Church Installation

NEEDVILLE, TX — Travis Scharn with NLFX Professional learned just two weeks prior to an installation at the Creekside Christian Fellowship that the lighting he had specified was unavailable. Scharn turned to Chauvet and was not disappointed. “When it came to crunch time, CHAUVET came through for us,” said Scharn said. “And it turned out even better than what we would have had.”

As it turned out, Creekside Christian Fellowship was the first to install Chauvet’s new LED PAR 64-36 lights, fixtures that are equipped with 36 red, green and blue LEDs. Along with color mixing, that unit can produce a narrow beam for smaller areas or objects, such as the props that the pastor frequently uses during sermons.

The order also included four Q-wash LED 36 moving yokes, each fitted with 36 1-watt LEDs to deliver a wash with full RGB mixing capabilities. A ShowXpress controller to program and operate the lights rounded out the gear list.

The church held its first service Sunday, May 17, but Scharn said he had been working with the non-denominational congregation for more than a year. “This is the first stage of the project,” he said. “They also plan to build a permanent sanctuary and a gymnasium. And this first building will become a multi-purpose room between the gym and the sanctuary.”

Based in Minnesota, Scharn flew to Texas three weeks before the installation.  When he learned, a week later, that his lights would not be available, he called his boss. Ben Stowe, owner of NLFX, then placed an urgent call to Chauvet.

The order was shipped immediately and the installation went smoothly with the crew putting in long hours, Scharn said.

“The church is happy with the ease of the system to program and run,” he added.  “They will move this system, which is synchronized with music and video, into the sanctuary when it is built.”

Scharn said there’s nothing like this lighting system in Needville, located in southeastern Texas with a population of 2,600. So the community is taking full advantage of the state-of-the-art system with community concerts and youth events along with Sunday services.

And NLFX will see the church through its next two stages. “You bet we will be involved in that,” Scharn said.
