CHICAGO — After completing the first leg of U2’s 360° tour in Europe, the claw-shaped structure featuring the first transformable LED video screen has been erected for U2’s Sept. 12 show at Soldier Field. U2 quickly sold out all 65,000 tickets for Sept. 12, and an extra show was set for Sept. 13. One of the dominant visual elements of the show is the LED screen made with over 500,000 Barco FLX LED modules. Barco and XL Video, who have previously worked on tours for Bon Jovi and George Michael, described it as another instance where they have worked to create visuals never before seen in the events industry.
“We are glad to be working with Barco on the new U2 360° tour,” said Rene De Keyzer, XL Video managing director. “XL Video has always been an early adopter of groundbreaking technologies.”
Paul Matthijs, senior VP for Barco's video and lighting solutions business unit, called the U2 360° tour “the perfect showcase for how innovative products can enable world-class entertainment, with sets capable of visually overwhelming millions of fans worldwide.”
