West Virginia’s Clay Center Using Panasonic LED Screen

CHARLESTON, WV — Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences of West Virginia has been equipped with a 9.5-foot-by-6.5-foot Panasonic LED video display. It’s visible from the road and is being used to promote current and future events. The Clay Center includes the Avampato Discovery Museum, the Maier Foundation Performance Hall, the ElectricSky Theater and the Walker Theater. The Clay Center is also home to the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

The new outdoor LED video display screen, installed by Panasonic System Solutions Company, “has provided us with a more exciting way to promote our venue and our offerings,” said Traci West-McCombs, Clay Center marketing director. “We can instantly upload new messages, computer-generated graphics or video content to the LED screen.”

The screen is an integrated solution and is mounted about nine feet above ground. An NITS brightness level of 4000 and a pixel pitch of 10mm ensure visibility even in bright daylight. The LED screen features 3-in-1 SMD technology to increase the density of pixels and allow for closer viewing distances, better color compounding and wider viewing angles.

Content for the LED screen is managed by Panasonic’s NMStage digital signage software. This software suite covers all of the Clay Center’s needs by allowing the use of different types of media over a secure network with dedicated bandwidth.

Panasonic system professionals worked with the Clay Center to design the management solution, which consists of an NM-SVR System Server for distribution and logging of content and two NM-PLR Automated Content Players. Additionally, the system offers diagnostics to help ensure that programming stays on schedule, and if an LED module needs to be replaced, the entire system does not need to be shut down. The Clay Center also selected a wireless system for transferring content from the Center to the LED screen.

“This is The Clay Center’s first go-round with digital signage technology and we were very pleased that Panasonic was selected for the implementation,” said Keith Hanak, group manager, Systems Integration, Panasonic System Solutions Company. “The system they have selected modernizes their broadcast communications technology and increases their profile throughout the community.”
