PR Lighting XLED 590 and XL250 in use in Broadway

IRKUTSK, Russia – Conventional and LED moving heads from PR Lighting are lighting up Broadway – but in this case, the location is a good distance from the streets of Manhattan. Irkutsk City is located in Siberia, and Broadway is a restaurant / live entertainment venue with a capacity for 110 guests. PR Lighting distributor Asia Trade Company equipped the venue with 12 XL250M moving heads and six XLED590 wash lights. The fixtures are truss-mounted over the stage and dance floor in the privately owned venue to meet a design by Dmitri Volovik, Broadway's technical director.

Rostislav Serishev with Asia Trade Company noted that since they would be operating seven days a week, reliability was a key selling point for Volovik. Serishev also noted that the PR Lighting heads were chosen for their ability to meet all the requirements for a wide range of shows, and for the favorable price/quality ratio. Volovik was also impressed with the flood effect of the XLED590, controlled via a  Martin Pro Light Jockey.

Asia Trade Company first became involved with the venue back in 2005 when Broadway was fitted out for the first time. The venue was refurbished in 2008 when Asia Trade Music's technical specialist, Alexey Kachin, and the head of installations at ATM, Maxim Vashenko, undertook a redesign.

Volovik credited the fixtures for "excellent" technical characteristics – "good optics and high quality lens, which ensure a powerful light output," he said. "On top of that, the movement is smooth and noiseless, and the operation is easy."

The magnetic ballast version of the XL250 is complemented by an optical system that makes the fixture sufficiently bright for small-to-medium sized venues. The XLED 590 uses Osram's Diamond Dragon LED, a bright single-chip SMT LED design, with 90 5W RGB LEDs in each head.
