"It is an exciting time here at Morpheus," said Mark Fetto, chief operating officer. "Business at our Las Vegas office has expanded to the point that we had outgrown our facility, and that's what's driven our consolidation plan. We had been studying the possibility of combined operations for some time now and, while it was clear that efficiency could be greatly enhanced, shuttering the Redding, Calif. shop, which had been Morpheus' main manufacturing facility as well as its touring production center, was a difficult decision to make.
"Ultimately, we believe that our customers will find us better able to serve their needs from Las Vegas," added Fetto. "One of the biggest advantages of the new building is the ability to hang and program a rig before it goes out the door. With a 28-foot ceiling height, designers won't have to wait till the first show to see what their rig will look like.
"Closing the Redding shop is a major change for the company," Fetto continued. "All of our Redding employees were offered the opportunity to relocate to Las Vegas, and we are pleased to say that several key members of our staff have made the move. Long-term Redding based vendors, while no longer ‘just down the street,' will continue to be valued suppliers."
