Electrosonic Provides Lighting Control for Oasis of the Seas

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines' Oasis of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, was built in Finland and equipped with a lighting control system from Electrosonic's Finland office (Electrosonic Oy Ab). The control system is used for lighting gear in most of the public spaces for the floating behemoth, and also in the Royal, Loft and A-suite cabins and decks. Electrosonic has delivered systems for more than 40 vessels, including luxury cruise ships for many of the largest operators (10 for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines alone), cruise ferries and mega yachts.  Even so, Oasis of the Seas posed some new challenges.

Featuring 17 decks, the mega-ship is designed around seven neighborhood concepts, each with a distinct personality and range of sights and activities. For the lighting control systems in the public spaces, Electrosonic used Helvar Imagine 920 router-based technology. As a networked solution, Electrosonic can change settings of the lighting, monitor it and perform diagnostics from shore.

Electrosonic also supplied some of the effects lighting control and professional color-changing LED fixture combinations for the Boardwalk, Promenade and Aqua Theater areas. The company is also expected to deliver lighting control systems for Oasis of the Seas' sister ship, Allure of the Seas.
