LONDON – Fred Foster, chief executive officer and founder of ETC (Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc.) has received an international industry accolade – the Gottelier Award – in acknowledgment for his contributions to the advancement of entertainment technology. "I am genuinely moved to receive this honor named for industry muse and much-missed friend Tony Gottelier," said Foster. "And I would also like to accept it in recognition of all the creative individuals who have contributed to the evolution of ETC's products over the years."
Commemorating the late designer, developer and industry commentator Tony Gottelier, the award identifies trailblazers who have had a significant and sustained impact on the development of the equipment and tools that enable entertainment-technology practitioners to push the boundaries of event production, presentation and installation.
Foster has been at the helm of ETC for the company's development of products including Source Four lighting fixtures, Sensor+ dimming, ETC control consoles and ETC Rigging.
Other lighting companies and products honored Sept. 13 included Clay Paky (Sharpy), Robert Juliat (Aledin; shown on White Light's stand with Goboland GoboSlides), Coemar (Spa Reflection FullSpectrum), LumenRadio (CRMX Nova Flex) and CAST Software (BlackTrax).
Special commendations were also given to the Clay Paky Alpha Profile 700 and the RevEAL CW color-mixing LED wash light from Prism Projection.
