SURFERS PARADISE, Australia – The ULA Group specified Anolis ArcPad Xtreme fixtures to light up the three facades of a 21-story, triangular-shaped tower that served as a beacon and could be seen for miles beyond the RACV Royal Pines Resort, where event planners recently staged the Bruce Lynton BMW Charity Ball. ULA Group didn't need more than two ArcPad Xtremes to illuminate each fascia of the building, and the management at the RACV Royal Pines were impressed enough to consider lighting the building in a similar fashion for future events.
The units were positioned on the ground, at varying distances of between 20 and 30 meters away from the tower, with a slow color changing chase that welcomed the 1,000-plus attendees. The fixtures were run via wireless DMX and an ECue controller.
Anolis's ArcPad Xtreme has been developed as an IP 67-rated outdoor fixture with two independent LED modules densely populated with 188 LEDs. A convection cooling system keeps the fixtures silent, and they can be used for permanent installations, or, as in this case, temporary displays.
The 188 RGBW LEDs allow for a wide array of bright colors, including a "proper" white light. As with all Anolis fixtures, the light engine is homogenized to produce a smooth quality of light without pixelation.
