ARLINGTON, TX – The announcers booth for Super Bowl XLV was lit with Litepanels Sola 6 Fresnel LED lighting fixtures, seen on the Fox Sports Network coverage of the game Feb. 6. Litepanels touts its Sola Fresnel series for combining the advantages of LED lighting with the properties of a Fresnel lens, including light projection over long distances and precise focusing and control of the light's output.
FOX Sports, which has used Litepanels 1×1 fixtures for booth shots throughout the 2010 season, used a pair of Sola 6 Fresnels for the show opening shot with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.
"We can get a greater intensity of light from the Solas, a little more volume of light toward the daylight background," said Ben Altopp, who runs FOX's announce booth.
Altopp worked with Fox's lighting designer Chuck Noble who used the Sola 6's variable beam shaping control to light the announcer team on the main set with the stadium background and a separate LED wall set.
In addition to the Sola 6 Fresnels, a pair of Litepanels 1×1 Low-Profile LED fixtures was hung to provide fill light on the announcers.
FOX has already asked Bexel Broadcast Services, which supplies lights for FOX's NFL broadcasts, to add Sola 6 Fresnel fixtures to its order list for next year.
