Major Corporate Event Lit by Clifton Productions’ Robe Fixtures

SYDNEY – Clifton Productions supplied more than 200 Robe moving lights for four gala dinners that were part of a corporate gathering produced by Blake Harris of Triumph Leisure Solutions (tls). Some 9,000 delegates from the Amway China Incentive attended the event, held at the Dome at Sydney Showground. The gear list included 80 of the new ROBIN LEDWash 600s.

David Atkins and Ignatius Jones, who also helped design the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, transformed the Amway galas into undersea experiences.

The visuals included HD projections onto a curved screen measuring 130 meters in width. Jason Coleman and his team from Ministry of Dance choreographed the 300 performers who backed up Taiwanese singer/songwriter Jonathan Lee.

Andy Mutton's lighting design included 50 Robe ColorSpot and 50 ColorWash 2500E ATs, 50 ColorSpot 1200s, 80 LEDWash 600s and 20 Robe REDWash 3●192s, plus 48 Anolis ArcPADs and a variety of strobes and generic fixtures.

In addition to illuminating eight stages of live action (with up to six running simultaneously) and the room for the dinner, Mutton lit a series of custom props, acrobats and aerial performers.

Most of the lighting was hung on a network of truss sections flown from the 42-meter-high roof of the Dome. Andy Mutton and Franco Calvi used a Road Hog Full Boar and grandMA consoles to operate the generic lighting, moving lights and LED fixtures.

The lighting challenges included covering all the performances and artists in dramatic fashion while also ensuring that the room itself was well-lit.

Clifton Productions was the first lighting rental company in Australia to take delivery of the new Robe ROBIN LEDWash 600s, and the corporate event used more of them than any other event or show.
