CAPE TOWN, South Africa — Kylie Minogue’s 77-date, six-month Aphrodite – Les Folies World Tour 2011 visited 28 countries before wrapping up recently. The tour’s lighting, video and sound supplier for the European and North American legs, Solotech, provided MDG’s TheONE and Ice Fog QTM units for atmospherics, at the request of LD, Nick Waterhouse.

“I was introduced to MDG by Solotech’s Karl Gaudreau when touring with Alicia Keys,” said Waterhouse. “We then took four DMX-operated versions of TheONE on Kylie’s For You, For Me tour in 2009 and I was very impressed,” he said, crediting TheONE’s ability “to set the output level from the desk and to switch between haze and fog modes.”

Along with its ability to create both fog and haze, TheONE has networking capabilities and can be operated with DMX, RDM, ACN, ETC-Net or Art-Net. Solotech’s Gaudreau, who worked with MDG Fog on developing the DMX version of TheONE, also credited it for its new cradle design and universal voltage rating “ideal for touring.”
