IBC 2011 Sets Record for Attendance, Exhibition Space

LONDON — IBC 2011 set records for attendance (50,462); a 4 percent increase over 2010, and also for display space (13 halls and 1,300+ exhibitors).  The conference was structured around four areas of interest — Added Value, Technological Advancements, Content Creation and Innovation and the Business of Broadcasting.

Key features at this year’s event included the Future Zone, which featured NHK’s demo of its Super Hi-Vision screen with 16 times the resolution of today’s HD screens; discussions of trends including consumers viewing tablets and TVs at the same time; advances in digital cinema and 3D; and keynote speakers including representatives from Sony, Facebook and MTV along with movie director James Cameron and Sir David Attenborough, the recipient of IBC’s International Honor for Excellence.
