More details from ETC (http://www.etcconnect.com/ldi-2012):
MIDDLETON, WI – ETC is once again offering its LDI Student Sponsorship, which gives university students an opportunity to get real-world experience and make connections in the industry. Those selected to participate in the program will receive an all-expense-paid trip to the LDI 2012 tradeshow Oct. 19-21 in Las Vegas.
Any graduate student or undergraduate senior studying light design, theater technology or a related major is encouraged to apply. From the pool of applications, ETC will select six sponsorship finalists – five from the United States and one international student. An application is available online and students can either fill it out electronically or print it out and mail it to ETC. All applications must be received by May 31, 2012.
Costs covered by the sponsorship include hotel accommodations, round-trip airfare, meals, LDI conference passes and student-only swag. Student Sponsorship recipients will also get a backstage look at the ETC tradeshow booth and the company’s newest technologies, and will learn about ETC’s ‘Layers of Light’ philosophy. There will also be ample time for networking, including at the annual ETC-hosted student reception, which is attended by notable lighting designers, educators, consultants, journalists and employers.
Another aspect of ETC’s LDI Student Sponsorship is mentor-matching. ETC pairs the sponsorship recipients with luminaries in the lighting world who will offer them advice, guidance and support as they embark on industry careers.
