SOUTH KIRBY, YORKSHIRE, UK – One of the UK’s biggest arena rehearsal facilities is working with Richard Young’s new Load Cell Rental company to provide an accurate weighing service to its client base of touring shows and bands. Independent riggers will install clip-on Load Cells during load in, return to record the weight once the rig is hanging, then produce an independent assessment of the weight of the system. Clients will receive a report that includes calibration certificates of the cells used, which can be forwarded to all venues on the tour as part of the health and safety documentation in addition to the rigging plot.

South Kirkby, Yorkshire, UK – One of the UK’s biggest arena rehearsal facilities is working with Richard Young’s new Load Cell Rental company to provide an accurate weighing service to its client base of touring shows and bands.

Productions that book their rehearsals at LS-Live in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, will no longer have to rely on estimates to calculate the weight loads of their flown equipment, meaning they can be more confident in the safety of their shows.

Said LS-Live’s General Manager Ben Brooks: “Unfortunately our industry has suffered several tragic stage collapses in recent years. There is absolutely no reason why this should continue to happen.

“Because our studio and set construction businesses is often the starting point for large scale tours, we felt it our duty to implement new initiatives that give clients the opportunity to reduce the risk of incidents on tour and make their shows safer.”

Independent riggers will install clip-on Load Cells during load in, return to record the weight once the rig is hanging, then produce an independent assessment of the weight of the system. Clients will be given a report that includes calibration certificates of the cells used, which can be forwarded to all venues on the tour as part of the health and safety documentation in addition to the rigging plot.

“By incorporating Load Cell Rental’s weighing service as an optional extra in the studio rental package, we believe we can offer a hassle-free and reliable solution to touring shows who need an accurate weight report at the start of the tour,” said Brooks.

Load Cell Rental’s Richard Young said: “Working with LS-Live to provide our weighing service means we can dovetail with the production load in, ensuring minimum disruptions to rehearsals.”

LS-Live have access to Load Cell Rental’s large stock of load cells, meaning even the biggest rigs can be measured in one go and the cells can be left in place until the show loads out of rehearsals.

Brooks added that the on-site industry training center, Backstage Academy, means production crew can also top up their skills while they’re booked in at the studio, with short courses in Event Safety Passport, Rigging, Working at Height, Manual Handling and Equipment Suspension & Rigging.
