INDIANAPOLIS – Reel Video Systems, Dodd Technologies and Tyler Truss Systems teamed up to elevate the experience at Lucas Oil Stadium in March as the 2013 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Midwest Regional rolled into Indianapolis.  To enhance the live atmosphere the three companies developed, fabricated and installed a custom 32 ft x 32 ft structure that included four Reel Video panel-based LED video walls, stadium-sized audio reinforcement, and sanctioned signage.

The entire rig was designed for a quick load-in and even faster load-out at Lucas Oil Stadium.  Deck space on the top of the rig allowed technicians to wire, power and test the video walls as they were built.  Fiber from the condensed FOH configuration provided IP based HD video and audio data at the speed of light, reducing latency and enhancing quality.

There were 120 Reel Video Systems custom LED video frames making up the four 16:9 aspect ratio video walls in the structure.  Video feeds from in-house playback as well as live game feeds kept the video surfaces active throughout the Men’s Division I Regional weekend.  Audio from 16 Electrovoice XLC and 8 XLE cabinets provided audio reinforcement for college basketball fanatics sitting in the stands, while four flown EV 250 speakers provided audio on the court.

Eight two-ton capacity Stagemaker chain hoists carried the load 250 feet from the roof of Lucas Oil Stadium to trim.  Two more Stagemaker one-ton capacity hoists carried the weight of the house Daktronics score board below the structure.

“The NCAA Men’s Regional package highlights the ability of our three companies to collaborate and deliver an elegant, simplified solution to our clients’ needs,” says Mark Dodd, President of Dodd Technologies, Tyler Truss and Reel Video Systems.  “By pooling expertise and experience we are able to provide an unparalleled level of quality execution.  It is truly a unique ability and offering in our industry.”
