SANTA ROSA, CA — John Lathrop, West Coast account manager for Ultratec Special Effects, Inc. died on Oct. 5 from a heart attack. Known for his prowess at pyrotechnics, as a volunteer fire fighter and master of southern-style barbecue, Lathrop, a.k.a. “Johnny,” is survived by his wife, Toni Lathrop, and three children. He served with the Mammoth Volunteer Fire Department. A memorial service was held Oct. 12 at the Community Church of Sebastopol, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Redwood Credit Union, 250 Rohnert Park Expressway, Rohnert Park, CA, 94928, c/o Toni Lathrop; funds will be donated to some of Lathrop’s favorite charities.
