CHICAGO — Shortly after DJ Datsik took the stage at Concord Music Hall here at about 2 a.m. on Feb. 8, small amounts of ceiling debris appeared to shake loose. Moments later, large chunks of debris fell, hitting at least four in the audience. One of the injured declined medical treatment. Three others were transported to nearby hospitals — two with minor injuries and one whose injuries appeared to be more serious, according to local reports.
The Datsik concert was canceled and Concert Music Hall voluntarily closed for the rest of the weekend. A performance by Manowar later on Feb. 8 was moved to Logan Square Auditorium. Venue management also noted that a Feb. 9 show featuring 12th Planet was canceled and refunds offered.
