TA’ QALI, Malta — The lighting support structure for a concert version of the Maltese rock opera Gensna fell at 10:50 a.m. on March 17 and injured four crew members. One of the workers, Emanuel Ronayne, 48, received life-threatening injuries to the chest; the other injuries were not life-threatening. The accident occurred at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre here. Of the four crew members injured, Ronayne and one other were hospitalized; the two others were reportedly treated on site for bruises and shock.

There was no word on whether the show, a concert version of a rock opera staged some 30 years ago that had been planned for March 22 and 23, would be able to proceed as planned. David Borg, producer of the show, said that the structure that collapsed is part of the permanent steel structure that supports the tent. The Gensna stage remained intact, he added.
