GUANGZHOU, China – The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, taking place at the China Import and Export Fair Complex here June 9-12, features 2,621 exhibitors within 21 halls and 225,000 square meters of exhibition space. The exhibitor count is a new record for the annual event.

Ms Lucia Wong, Deputy General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Ltd noted: “Lighting solutions are a communal effort. The core themes, which encompass the direction of the 2014 show, are Sustainability, Application of Intelligent Lighting, Project-based Business Development and LED Integration. These themes can also be witnessed through the fair’s concurrent event program. Organized as the “Light-plus” series of events, the 2014 concurrent program will feature over 120 various sessions, focused on the areas of market penetration, technology development, design as well as networking. As Ms Wong mentioned, the development of lighting solutions is a shared endeavor. And 2014’s “Light-plus” events are designed to hold a series of discussions for all major professions involved in building the lighting products of tomorrow.
The 2014 show’s themes have also been adopted by participating exhibitors. Third-time exhibitor, Epistar Co Ltd, returns to the Guangzhou fair once again to showcase the firm’s renewed commitment to LED lighting technology. Commenting on their plans for the 2014 show, Ms Mandy Huang, MarCom Commissioner for the firm’s China subsidiary, Luxlite noted: “Epistar is well-known as a supplier of LED epitaxial wafers and chips. We have now fine-tuned our production process, allowing us to provide solutions with greater efficiency and performance for LED-based lighting products. There’s a strong move towards consolidation within the LED supply chain. And by participating at the Guangzhou fair, we are able to meet firms along the beginning and the end of the supply chain to both support our business as well as serve as new potential customers.”
Fourth-time exhibitor, Guangdong ELX Lighting Co Ltd, shared their views on the significance of Asia and the show. Mr. Yongxiong Lee, Deputy General Manager share: “We are very confident about the Asian market, as consumer awareness on environmental protection is getting stronger and stronger each year. It has helped us immensely with our efforts in developing energy-saving lighting solutions. I look forward to meeting both industry peers and the diverse group of buyers attracted to the show this year.”
Organized pavilions aim to highlight global developments on lighting intelligence
The 2014 show is set to feature five organized pavilions, showcasing recent developments in intelligent lighting technology from some of the industry’s top production hubs:
Japan Pavilion – Organized by the Japan Lighting Manufacturers Association (JLMA) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Guangzhou, the pavilion makes its debut at the fair, featuring LED lighting, packaging material and inspection equipment manufacturers. Through the support of JETRO, the Japanese pavilion will also aim to promote emerging energy-saving technologies from Japan to industry peers in China.
Korea Pavilion – With a group of 10 exhibitors, the pavilion, organized by the Korea LED Association, and supported by KOTRA, will display the latest products and solutions in the areas of LED technical lighting, signage, lightboxes, modules, drivers, ICs, heatsinks and much more.
Hong Kong Pavilion – Leading a campaign entitled “HK Quality LED”, the Hong Kong Pavilion, organized by the Hong Kong Electronic Industrial Association, will feature eight manufacturers looking to promote Hong Kong’s LED industry to both China and the global market. The pavilion will also host a series of seminars during the show to educate attendees on LED lighting technology, its various certification and qualification requirements as well as methods on LED product specification development.
Taiwan Pavilion – With over 40 participating exhibitors, the Taiwan Pavilion once again ranks as the largest organized pavilion at the Guangzhou show. Made possible by the Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association, the pavilion has gathered prominent Taiwan-based suppliers of everything from technical and decorative lighting products to LED lighting fixtures, retrofit lamps, drivers and components.
US Pavilion – Celebrating its fifth year of participation will be the US Pavilion, organized by the Department of Commerce, US Consulate General Guangzhou, China. This year the pavilion will focus on the theme of innovation and sustainability, with US lighting suppliers looking to promote the country’s advantage in next-generation lighting technology. The pavilion will also have a product presentation area where participating exhibitors will introduce their latest LED innovations as well as lighting solutions.
Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, along with the concurrently held Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology, is headed by the biennial Light + Building event, which will take place from 13 – 18 March 2016 in Frankfurt, Germany.
