AARHUS, Denmark — Issuing an Ice Bucket Challenge to its competitors, SGM CEO, Peter Johansen, touted the company’s G-Spot fixture’s IP65 rating by dousing the moving light with a bucket of cold water. Unlike the CEO, who also underwent a “soak test,” the working fixture appeared to be unfazed by the stunt, which had the side benefit of promoting ALS awareness and support.
The Ice Bucket Challenge is an activity that generally involves dumping a bucket of ice water on someone’s head to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and encourage donations to research. It went viral on social media during July-August 2014.
“If people can do it, so can products,” said Johansen, issuing a 72-hour challenge to Martin Professional, Clay Paky and Vari-Lite. The video ends with Johansen himself receiving an ice bucket drenching from behind.
