HO CHI MINH CITY – A glass stage that served as part of the TV set for the Vietnamese version of a Netherlands-based reality show cracked during the live production, injuring three. The second show of the second season of Giong Hat Viet Nhi, (The Voice of the Children), was underway at the Liberation Film Studio when the stage problem caused a cameraman to fall. Fog effects were in use, and two young dancers fell as well. Although all three were injured, none of the injuries were life-threatening or serious enough to require an extended hospital stay.

The incident raised questions of whether the organizers of the show, which features performers aged 10-15, should have allowed it to continue once the staging element failed. After the live show cut to commercials, the young performers continued, singing from fixed positions.

The show’s producer, Nguyen Quang Minh, the general director of Cat Tien Sa Company, pledged to reduce the likelihood of a recurrence of the problem by reinforcing future glass stages with stronger layers of glass.
