LAS VEGAS — Marshall Bissett has been named chairman of the governing body of the Parnelli Awards. Bissett, a longtime supporter of the awards, was one of the first to join the board of advisors. He’s played an increasingly active role behind the scenes in the last few years as a vital part of the production team and one of the show’s writers.

“I’m pleased Marshall has stepped up to take the important leadership position,” said Parnelli Awards co-founder and executive producer Terry Lowe, who is also publisher of PLSN and FRONT of HOUSE magazines. “His dedication, industry knowledge and creativity are valuable assets, and I and the rest of the Board look forward to working with him in his new leadership role.”

“When Terry first proposed me to lead this loud, outspoken and unruly group of opinionated industry leaders, my first reaction was to run in the other direction,” Bissett quipped. “Later, in therapy, I was convinced it would be character building. Now I am looking forward to carrying on the work started by Patrick Stansfield and the Board. The Parnelli awards have become a great tradition, and I am proud to be involved.” (Stansfield, co-founder of the Parnelli Awards, served as its first chairman; he died Oct. 28, 2014.)

Bissett grew up in Perth, Scotland, and after some work in theater, got involved in concert touring. He did tours with the Rolling Stones, The Who, Elton John and many other artists before starting TMB in 1983, which offers products and services that facilitate live event touring. He retired from TMB last year, but is still active in the live event industry as a writer and a consultant.

“I rely a great deal on the Parnelli Awards chairman for guidance, advice and even to help put out the inevitable fires that pop up when putting on a show of this size and stature,” said Parnelli Awards producer Kevin Mitchell. “Marshall has always been a great source of help, and has improve the show over the years, and I look forward to working with him even more closer.”
