ORLANDO, FL — PLASA Focus: Orlando’s educational seminar program will kick off at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17 with a presentation by lighting designer Richard Pilbrow. The presentation, titled “Light and Theatre – 50 Years of Change,” is sponsored by elektraLite and Avolites distributor Group One Ltd. It will be held at the Rosen Plaza Hotel.

Richard Pilbrow is a highly respected lighting designer, theatre design consultant and author. Since establishing Theatre Projects in 1957, he has been a producer of theatre, film and TV. As a founder of the ABTT, ALD and STC, Pilbrow is also highly respected as a pioneer of stage lighting in the UK and was retained by Sir Laurence Olivier to be first lighting designer, and then theatre consultant, to the National Theatre of Great Britain.
Pilbrow’s books “Stage Lighting” (1970) and “Stage Lighting Design – the Art, the Craft, the Life” (1997) have become international texts, while his 2011 book, “A Theatre Project,” was the 2013 winner of the prestigious USITT Golden Pen Award. Under his leadership, Theatre Projects has become world’s pre-eminent theatre consulting organization with more than 1,200 projects in over 70 countries to its credit.
