LAS VEGAS – Tour School, LLC is teaming up with the University of Nevada at Las Vegas’ (UNLV) Continuing Education program to offer STEADI (Stage Technician Education and Development Intensive), to be held in early August at a location to be determined in Las Vegas. The multi-day program is designed to prepare candidates to meet the needs of employers seeking skilled labor for entry-level stage tech positions in live event productions.

More details from Tour School (www.tourschool.rocks) and UNLV Continuing Education (http://ced.unlv.edu):

Ed WanneboEd Wannebo, noted production manager (Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Hall and Oates), and Richard Cadena, ETCP-recognized trainer and author, will teach in the program along with other industry experts. The curriculum was developed after extensive interviews with industry professionals who identified attitudes and skills needed to begin a career in live event production.

“STEADI is a partnership between academic and professional settings,” said Wannebo. The partnership between Tour School, LLC and UNLV Continuing Education delivers a curriculum in which participants learn and practice entry-level skills, terminology, basic concepts, values, and culture required by the complex discipline of live event production.

Richard Cadena“Most people in our industry learn by trial and error,” Wannebo added.  “We’re going to challenge the status quo and bridge the gap between education and experience in a real-world setting.”

“We’re taking small groups of students and training them the way production companies have been saying they want their entry-level employees to be trained,” said Cadena. “It’s going to be a blend of classroom training to provide the foundation of knowledge and hands-on training where we’ll prep the gear, set it up, and work it like a live show.”
