SURREY, U.K. – Members of the U.K. entertainment technology industry will be converging at the Sandown Park Racecourse in Surrey on June 17 to take part in the Behind the Scenes Go-Karting Day. Thirty teams of six drivers will put their driving skills and powers of endurance to the test for three hours of open air racing, and it’s all in aid of Behind the Scenes, the charity that provides financial support to entertainment technology industry professionals who fall ill or become injured, or to their surviving family members.
More details from Behind the Scenes (www.behindthescenescharity.org):
“It’s a great cause, but it’s also going to be great fun,” says Behind the Scenes trustee Lee Dennison, who is helping to organize the day. “We have teams from some of the best known companies in the industry, but there’s still room for more.”
The day begins at 10 a.m. with driver registration, qualifying laps are at midday and the race itself, which includes a Formula One-style pit stop challenge, starts at 13.00. There will also be a BBQ lunch, raffles, prize giving for the lucky winners at 16.00.
“If you don’t want to race,” Lee concludes, “come along anyway to support Behind the Scenes, cheer on your favourite team and enjoy a great day of networking and socialising.”
