AEG Live’s Goldenvoice Division Notes Record Sales for Coachella, Stagecoach Festivals

INDIO, CA — Taking place over three consecutive three-day weekends in April, the two-weekend Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and single-weekend Stagecoach Festival all scored box office records this year for AEG Live’s Goldenvoice division. The ticket sales total across three weekends exceeded $106.14 million.

Coachella alone (April 10-12 and April 17-19) set records for total 2015 ticket sales ($84.26 million) and the number of three-day passes soled (198,000). That works out to be $425.58, on average, per three-day pass.

Because the event’s permit caps total onsite attendance, it’s not likely that future festivals will see a big jump in the total number of tickets sold.

Although general admission tickets for Coachella in 2015 were $375 per three-day pass, each good for one of the two three-day weekends, most people paid more. The cost bumped up to $435 for general admission with a shuttle pass, and VIP passes went for $899 per weekend, with an additional $150 tacked on for VIP parking.

Well-heeled attendees could also shun the regular car/tent camping area ($99) by reserving two-person Teepees and four person tents, respectively, along with general admission/VIP passes, for $2,350/$3,400 and $3,100/$5,200.

AEG Live’s Goldenvoice Division Notes Record Sales for 2015 Stagecoach FestivalLimited to a single three-day weekend (April 24-26), Stagecoach, dubbed Coachella’s “country cousin,” garnered more modest totals, with $21.88 million from 70,000 tickets sold, averaging $312.57 per three-day pass.

Even so, Stagecoach’s total rose more dramatically from the numbers posted in 2014 ($18.6 million total ticket sales/63,400 attendees per day), and stand in even more marked contrast to 2007, when Stagecoach, then a two-day event, was launched. More than 55,000 attended in the event’s inaugural year, but total ticket revenues barely budged past the $5 million mark.

Ticket sales for the 2016 Coachella event, set for April 15-17 and April 22-24, began at 11 a.m. on June 4, 2015. As in years past, all available tickets sold quickly, even though the final lineup for the event won’t be announced until Jan. 2016; advanced tickets for both weekends sold out within hours.
