LOS ANGELES – Image Engineering recently installed four LV50 and two LV60 Light Vector scanning laser projectors and associated hardware in the Staples Center. This laser installation is now a permanent fixture in the arena, delivering more than 300 watts of white light laser power. The laser effects can be programmed entirely from a conventional lighting console.
More details about the Light Vector (www.lightvectorlasers.com):
This intuitive programming feature is made possible by the laser projector’s internal control system, Beam Composer, which allows the fixture to behave and operate like an automated moving light. These new Light Vector laser projectors replace previous green light laser fixtures in the arena, more that doubling the laser power in the entertainment complex with full color laser light.
This laser show premiered October 7th, ushering in the LA King’s season opener against the San Jose Sharks. It will continue to be a dynamic feature of the pre-game show before each home game in the Staples Center. Commissioned by the LA Kings for their use, some of the fixtures will also be used by the LA Clippers under an arrangement with the Kings.

About the Light Vector Laser System
Image Engineering launched the Light Vector line of laser projectors in 2011 with the introduction of the LV20 series. John Suehle, who holds PhD in Electrical Engineering and has an extensive research background in microelectronics, is the product designer for Light Vector, proudly manufactured in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
The Light Vector Laser System consists of top-of-the-line diode technology laser projectors and Beam Composer, an embedded technology that allows full communication between Light Vector lasers and industry standard lighting consoles. From high-powered full color 60-watt projectors to 1-watt projectors, the entire line of Light Vector lasers are easy and intuitive to control from the lighting console just like other lighting fixtures – Beam Composer is not a DMX triggering device for pre-designed laser looks, no additional hardware or software is needed. Training and safety are also key components of Light Vector’s comprehensive approach.
