LONDON – Organizers of the Green Events & Innovations Conference (GEI), the UK’s leading conference for sustainability at live events, have announced the overall theme of the 2016 edition as “challenging the status quo.” GEI takes place March 3, 2016 at the Royal Garden Hotel, and is produced by AGreenerFestival, Bucks New Uni and the ILMC.

More details from ILMC (www.ilmc.com):

The one-day event, which takes place in London the day before the International Live Music Conference (ILMC) attracts over 100 innovators, thought leaders and environmental practitioners from around the world.

“We’ll be challenging the status quo by questioning current beliefs and reassessing practice and approaches to sustainable event management,” says co founder Teresa Moore at Bucks New Uni.

Panel topics will include a round up of innovations and developments at festivals in 2015; re-evaluating environmental impact assessment and carbon footprinting methodology; understanding the concert and festival audience; greening through People Power and volunteering; environmental skills and training; a climate change update; and assessing the impact of COP21 in Paris.

The full schedule will be published in January, but the 2015 edition included input from Artur Mendes (Boom), Yomi Ayeni (Burning Man), Pip Rush (Arcadia Spectacular), Rob Scully (Glastonbury), Ed Cook (Resources Futures) & Holger Jan Schmidt (GO Group).
