LAS VEGAS — Yes, it’s August — and still summertime. But the 2016 Parnelli Awards aren’t some hazy abstraction on the distant horizon. The final awards ballot will be posted online in less than a week. Voting will continue for the month of September. And before you know it, October will be here, and the Parnelli Awards staff will be getting the usual last-minute requests for a seat at this year’s awards gala.
If there’s even a remote chance that YOU are going to be the one begging to be shoe-horned into the sold-out ballroom at the Rio Hotel & Casino, do yourself a favor and make that call this week instead. And while you’re reserving your seat (or table) for the Oct. 22 awards ceremony, which starts with a cocktail reception at 7 p.m., check out the 2016 Parnelli Golf Tournament, set for Oct. 20 at Siena Golf Club in Las Vegas, which has an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
The 2016 Parnelli Awards will be hosted this year by Grammy-nominated composer and guitarist Adrian Belew. The awards will honor Richard Fernandez with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Danny O’Bryen with the Visionary Award and Greg Mackie with the Audio Innovator Award. They’ll be joined on the awards podium with all the other top achievers and innovators who will be getting richly deserved recognition for advancing the live event industry’s state of the art.
