LONDON – Triple E’s ModTruss is being used to construct a stage and an exhibition stand at this year’s PLASA London. ModTruss, which won ‘Engineering Product of the Year’ at the 2015 ABTT Awards, will form the structures for both the main Exhibition Stand and the Awards Stage for the Technical Theatre Awards (TTAs).

More details from Triple E (www.3-eee.com):

Triple E first brought ModTruss to the UK mid 2015 and then launched the product in Europe at Prolight + Sound Frankfurt in March 2016. Best described as full size Meccano, the ModTruss system features a lightweight aluminum construction – also available in steel for extra strength – with a repeating hole pattern, meaning applications are practically limitless.

The Technical Theatre Awards stage is made of 12” ModTruss and is being erected on the rooftop of The Printworks Club close to the PLASA show, which is being held at Kensington Olympia. The stage also features ModTruss ‘TTA’ lettering atop the structure, with the ‘A’ cleverly constructed with hinges and 6” cubes.

The stage was designed and is project managed by Triple E’s Lucy Edelstein in collaboration with Olivia Dermot Walsh of the TTAs.

“The Technical Theatre Awards 2016 is delighted that Triple E is providing us with a bespoke stage constructed from ModTruss,” says Walsh. “ModTruss provides us with a unique build opportunity because of its versatility. With limited access to our rooftop venue overlooking the iconic rooftops of Olympia ModTruss can break down into small enough units to accommodate the trickiest of load ins.

“Using ModTruss significantly reduces our lead time on the event build and is the solution that works best both economically and practically. Triple E’s Design, Planning and Project Management have been fantastic. It’s great to be in such safe hands supported from conception through to realization.”

The Technical Theatre Awards celebrates the achievements of people working behind the scenes and is now in its fourth year. Triple E is also supporting the event by again sponsoring the award for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Flys & Rigging’.

The Exhibition Stand is on the National Hall Gallery overlooking the National Hall in Olympia. It consists of both 6” and 12” sections of ModTruss.

“We’re thrilled that ModTruss will once again be the building system of choice on two different structures at PLASA London,” says Triple E’s Managing Director, David Edelstein. “ModTruss represents the future of truss possibilities – it’s a product of such simplicity-yet-genius and has the power to truly change the way our industry approaches set building, event structures and any application that tubular truss is currently used for.”

ModTruss components can be re-used, re-purposed, and re-configured and in the process reduce waste, allowing designers, production managers and producers real cost savings coupled with enormous flexibility for creative design. ModTruss is available exclusively in Europe from Triple E.

PLASA 2016 is at London Olympia from 18-20 October. The ModTruss Exhibition Stand is V14 on the Gallery and the Technical Theatre Awards takes place at The Printworks Club at 7.30pm.
