2017 Bridge School Benefit Concert Canceled

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – After Neil Young and friends launched inaugural Bridge School Benefit Concert in Oct. 1986, the concert, which raises funds for a school for special-needs students, had a 30-year run, raising millions with top acts pitching in to support the cause. A 2017 concert, however, will not take place. Concert founders Neil and Pegi Young, who divorced in 2014, cited personal reasons for the cancellation.

In a letter posted on The Bridge School’s website on June 21, Pegi Young, president of the Bridge School’s board of directors, expressed gratitude to all those who have supported the school by attending the concerts in the past.

“Because our mission is of such great importance to so many, we proceed onward with optimism into the future,” she noted. “Stay tuned for updates as we begin to shape what the next steps will be in reaching our endowment goals.”

Although the annual concert has traditionally raised a significant portion of the funds needed to run the school, the school will continue to operate, and the website has already posted its academic calendar for the 2017/2018 school year.
