LOS ANGELES – Live Nation announced that Linkin Park’s North American tour in support of the band’s 2017 album release, One More Light, has been canceled. Frontman Chester Bennington, 41, was found dead July 20, one week before the North American tour was due to launch at the Xfinity Center near Boston, MA. The North American tour leg was to start in Boston July 27 and wrap up in Los Angeles on Oct. 22.
“We are incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of Chester Bennington,” Live Nation noted, in the statement. “The Linkin Park One More Light North American Tour has been canceled and refunds are available at point of purchase. Our thoughts go out to all those affected.”
The North American tour leg was to include 27 shows starting in Boston July 27 and wrapping up in Los Angeles on Oct. 22. It was set to follow tour legs that the band completed earlier this year in South America (May 6-13) and Europe/U.K. (June 9-July 6) with supporting performances by Machine Gun Kelly and One OK Rock.
Other canceled gigs include the “Blinkin Park” co-headlining concerts set for July 28 and 30 at New York’s Citi Field and Hershey Park Stadium in Pennsylvania that would have featured Linkin Park and Blink-182 with the Wu-Tang Clan and Machine Gun Kelly.
The tour was in support of One More Light, the band’s seventh studio album, which was released on May 19, 2017. The album was the band’s first release since The Hunting Party from 2014 and the sixth to top the charts upon its release.
