NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE – Bandit Lites is proud to be lighting Tash Sultana, the Melbourne singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who is bringing her exceptional vocals and beatboxing skills to audiences around the world.Following a viral video performance that garnered over a million views in five days, the self- taught artist launched her Homecoming Tour this summer with a lighting design crafted by Cam Anderson designed to be both compact and powerful, with upright trusses providing the backbone and Chauvet Rogue FX-B’s utilized as the main force.

More details from Bandit Lites (www.BanditLites.com):

“I chose Rogues because they offer both tilt and pixel control over each head,” said Anderson. “This precision, in combination with continuous pan rotation, made for a highly versatile fixture. Finally, I brought the full look together with festoons. What is most important to me is that these pieces allow me to create an infinite array of effects with only minimal features.”

These unlimited looks are crucial for the tour, as Tash’s performances feature her looping multiple instruments live each night, a feat in spontaneity that Anderson worked to imitate in the lighting.

“She’s a master at her craft,” said Anderson. “There are no tracks involved. Mimicking this, I busked most of my show to reflect her experimental style. I worked with her each night to create a dynamic light show that reflected the energy of each unique venue. The challenge of working with a brilliantly spontaneous artist like Tash pushed me as an LD to accommodate her constantly developing vision.”

Anderson’s design allowed him the freedom to play off the energy of the crowd, a crucial component to Tash Sultana’s performances, as Tash and Anderson worked together each night to create a show that reflected her artistic intention.

“For example, Tash prefers subtle lighting that does not focus on her directly,” explained Anderson. “The attention of the show should focus on the music she is creating, not on her personally. To address that, I opted to light Tash from the side. I used Bandit’s GRNLite Wash fixtures at a low intensity to create a rich and introspective visual experience.”

“We are ecstatic with the direction of Cam’s approach and design in working with such a dynamic artist as Tash Sultana,” said Bandit Client Representative Shawn Lear. “His understanding of busking and impromptu performances shows his skill and professionalism in touring. I am looking forward to seeing what Cam has in store for the next run.”

Anderson describes Bandit as his go-to for all his lighting needs, noting how Lear worked with him and Tour Manager Emmy Levine to develop a package that considered both the creative and budget needs.

“Everything met my specifications to the dot,” finished Anderson. “All of the gear was clearly labeled, making for an easy setup and teardown everyday. It’s clear that Bandit is so genuinely passionate about what they do, and I love feeling like a part of their community.”
