USA: LDI 2017 signaled the beginning of a new, truly international era for ADB Stagelight, the dedicated theatre lighting brand from Claypaky. The international exhibition, held in Las Vegas in November, marked the first appearance in many years for the stage and studio lighting and control brand in the USA. Founded in 1920 and well known across Europe for almost a century, ADB is a respected brand for those in the United States who are aware of it. However, it is only now, as part of Claypaky and the Osram Group who acquired the brand in 2016, and with production updated around the world, that the ADB brand is ready to seriously address the US market.
More details from ADB (www.adblighting.com):
Combining the pioneering heritage of ADB with the market insights and technological prowess of Claypaky, the ADB brand offers one of the broadest product ranges for theatres and studios, including dimming systems, LED and conventional luminaires, lighting consoles and motorized rigging systems.
At LDI, the brand showcased a variety of noteworthy products, including the new Klemantis, an asymmetric linear LED cyc light whose cutting-edge optical technology and classic build demonstrate the synergy between the Claypaky and ADB brands. The Klemantis drew a great deal of attention and praise from lighting professionals at LDI for its world-leading HCR color control technology, which provides an extremely wide color gamut and an impressive tunable white light with a CRI > 97, up to 99.
Also well received at LDI were ADB’s latest control consoles, the Imago and Imago Wing. New, flexible, professional interfaces designed for modern programming demands, the Imago products are compact, lightweight and easily portable. The system works with Hathor, ABDs innovative lighting software, which offers a comfortable, user friendly programming environment and an impressive multi-user networked architecture.
ADB CEO Simone Capeleto was delighted by the brand’s reception. He comments, “The response to the ADB products shown at LDI was extremely encouraging. We are bringing innovative, well designed and user-friendly products and technologies to the market and all of our new production is UL-approved.
The lighting professionals we have spoken with have been very enthusiastic in their feedback. After LDI, we are more confident than ever that there is huge potential for ADB in the United States.”
He adds, “ADB is mastering software and hardware development, as well as product engineering and production of all key components of a stage lighting system. From system design through equipment specifications, installation and commissioning, the ADB Project Team provides customized solutions for any kind of stage or studio lighting system.”
“The theatre sector is rapidly changing with the dramatic breakthrough of LED technology and automation,” says Pio Nahum, CEO of Claypaky. “These are technologies in which Osram and Claypaky are leaders and innovators. LEDification has eliminated the technical differences that existed between geographical zones. ADB’s Klemantis and new LED projector range can benefit from a worldwide market that makes them even more competitive”.
