The European Commission website, which has information on the progress as the new eco-friendly rules take shape, notes a feedback period that will end in early November. To get to this page, go to https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/initiatives/ares-2018-476175_en.

BRUSSELS, Belgium — The European Entertainment Ecodesign Coalition, a Europe-wide group of associations working in the entertainment, live performance and film/TV sectors, noted progress but also continuing concerns about the latest draft of new rules governing stage and studio lighting in the EU.

Coalition members urged that action be taken to address key shortcomings while the rules are still taking shape. Concerns include standby power mode and networked stand-by power mode requirements, the ability to use white light sources for specific needs, new rules on color-tunable light sources, the need to widen the definition of wavelength of Green, and an exemption on proposed rules for lamp bases for pro lighting products.

PLASA, a coalition member, noted that the regulatory committee would meet with the EU Commission on Dec. 17-20 to decide on the final draft. The text is expected to be adopted in early 2019 and come into force starting September 2021.
