NASHVILLE — Mark Grega, who launched pyro and special effects company Strictly FX with co-founder Ted Maccabee in 1996, died Jan. 13. He was 53.
Strictly FX posted the following tribute on its website, www.strictlyfx.com:
“Mark is remembered as a visionary and innovative leader in live special effects, earning nine Parnelli Awards for Pyro Company of the Year. Across six continents and more than thirty-years in the industry, Mark helped produce six Super Bowl halftime shows while also supporting a host of legendary bands, including Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, and David Gilmour.
“Most importantly, Mark is remembered by his team as a dear friend, a resolute leader and a loyal mentor who was as focused on the well-being of his team as he was on the satisfaction of his clients. “Mark will be missed beyond words and our hearts break for his family. He loved what he did, and loved all of us and I know we all loved him,” said Ted Maccabee, co-founder of Strictly FX. “We will honor Mark’s vision by taking care of one another and continuing his legacy of industry-leading innovation.”
