Severe weather moved into the Indianapolis area Aug. 18, 2019.

INDIANAPOLIS – Severe weather forced the postponement of Luke Bryan’s Aug. 18 show at the Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center in Noblesville, IN, and also canceled the Gospel Music Festival headlined by Mary Mary at the Indianapolis State Fair. Summer deluges also hit Hershey, PA and Gilford, NH, canceling shows for the Backstreet Boys and Hall & Oates, respectively. No injuries were reported.

The National Weather Service reported a dangerous line of storms with frequent lightning and damaging wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph in the Indianapolis area, forcing the postponement of Luke Bryan’s show to Oct. 11 and the cancellation of the Mary Mary show along with the JJ Grey & Mofro and Jonny Lang concert at the Farm Bureau Lawn at Indianapolis’ White River State Park.

Severe weather also disrupted the Backstreet Boys’ Aug. 18 show at 30,000-capacity Hersheypark Stadium, with concert officials postponing the show less than an hour before its scheduled 8 p.m. start time, then announcing that the show was postponed indefinitely a little less than two hours later.

And at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford, NH, after Hall & Oates had taken the stage to perform one song, “Maneater,” the show was stopped and 8,000 attendees were told to evacuate the venue as severe weather moved in. Venue officials noted that this was the first time they had to interrupt and cancel a show due to bad weather.
