Ayrton Cobra2 Joins Ayrton Lighting Inventory at BYU – Idaho Campus

Brigham Young University-Idaho has invested in 14 Ayrton Cobra2 fixtures for its Rexburg campus. The Cobra2 is a phosphor laser source luminaire with an incredible beam angle, extreme range of focus and perfect color reproduction. Brown Note Productions in Thornton, Colorado provided the Cobra2 fixtures kicking off a new relationship with the university.

The Cobra2’s IP65 rating makes it the ideal choice for all weather and environmental conditions. Patrick Laing, Lighting Designer with BYU-Idaho’s AV and Broadcast Productions, says the university already had Ayrton Khamsin, Ghibli, Argo 6 FX and Zonda 3 FX fixtures and was looking for an IP-rated beam to cover more and more outdoor student events.

The brightness of Cobra’s laser source easily cuts through other lighting and its gobos and prisms, infinite pan and tilt, and saturated colors will offer Laing new creative options for a range of student activities.  ACT Entertainment assisted Laing in the process of obtaining the university’s first laser source and getting safety requirements in place. The fixtures have already been used in BYU-Idaho’s Hart Auditorium for a concert by a YouTube sensation, adding raw beams from the ground and aerials to the dynamic performance.
