Germany’s hit TV show Dein Song showcased the best emerging songwriters this spring with each contestant performing amid bespoke content displayed on three LED screens, all driven by Hippotizer media servers.
Creative production studio LUPIXX used two Boreal+ MK2s, supplied by ETC, to deliver a wealth of content created by Saskia Olma at LUPIXX and her team. “We were responsible for the content design of the finale, creating custom animations, visual concepts, and LED stage content to support the young songwriters’ performances and bring their music to life in an atmospheric and powerful way,” explains Olma. “The Boreal+ MK2 Media Servers are so user friendly, easy to set up and good to go, making the process and realization of the show stress-free.”
The popular program is produced by ZDF in collaboration with children’s channel KiKA. Participants work with mentors to hone their songwriting skills and perform in front of a live TV and studio audience, with the public voting for their favorite.
With three LED screens enveloping the stage – one main upstage center, with two stage left and right – the team utilized two 4K outputs from the Boreal+ MK2 Media Servers to pump out content ranging from kaleidoscopic butterflies to Dein Song and performer names.
Media Server programming and operation was done by Cologne-based mo2 design. “Hippotizer is a great tool for us because it is really intuitive to work with and has a great lighting desk integration – it paired together with our grandMA3 and allows us to program the servers really fast in conjunction with the lighting, all controlled from the console, using the same triggers,” says Hannes Kleinteich, Technical Planner at mo2 design and Video Operator of the Show. “The Boreal+ MK2 also has some fantastic, fast effects to help us manipulate the original content.”
“Hippotizer media servers are also reliable and stable systems – I’ve never had a situation where Hippotizer let us down during showtime. And the support from Green Hippo is great, I can always get a fast response if I need assistance or to improve on something.” The winner of Dein Song 2025 was singer Mina, with her song “Butterfly in a Glass”.
