Designer Insights
“It was a pleasure working with Rob Thomas and his amazing team to create this touring show. This was a co-headline shed tour with Counting Crows, so we were faced with a number of challenges. The set had to change over very quickly and compete with the evening sun. I elected to use the Intellipix panels because of their brightness and large pixels. I wanted to create a city skyline effect that was our feature piece and could easily shine bright while the evening sun was still a factor. Using the MBox media server, we did an Art-Net merge at the MA2 to give us a number of creative capabilities with the 2,450 pixels we had to play with. The incredible crew in the Upstaging fabrication shop created custom frames to house the Intellipix so the set could be very modular and adjust as needed. I wanted to create something unique and different with this set. We needed to create contrast from the Counting Crows, and I think we did just that.”
