Event Details:

In recent years, Melodifestivalen has been a touring show visiting six key cities. Due to Covid restrictions, this year the six rounds — four heats, the “second chance” and the final — were staged in one place, the Annexet arena in Stockholm, part of the Globe complex, and broadcast live on STV1. The finals took place Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27. The “Second Chance” took place March 6, and the finals took place March 13. The empty arena allowed for a performance stage measuring 24 x 28 meters (WxD) with a 10-meter trim height, and without the usual ambient light from the seating area, the visual designers had unprecedented control over the “darkness factor” as a dynamic counterpoint to the stage lighting and video elements.
