NASHVILLE — The 18th annual Grammy Block Party, hosted by country music artists The Warren Brothers, was offered for free to Recording Academy members and $50 for guests. It drew close to 1,000 to Cumberland Park from 4:30 to 10 p.m. on May 10 and featured the Cumberland River as a backdrop. Erik Parker, production designer with Chris Lisle Lighting Design, lit the live performances at the outdoor event with a rig that included new and classic fixtures from Martin, including Martin Atomic 3000 LED Strobes and classic MAC Auras.

Barco Opens ‘One Campus’ in Belgium

KORTRIJK, Belgium – Barco announced the opening of its new headquarters in Belgium on May 27. Located at the Beneluxpark in Kortrijk, the 230,000 square meter ‘One Campus’ is a circular building wrapped in glass and surrounded by green spaces. NEW YORK – Steven Tyler – singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known as lead singer of legendary American rock band Aerosmith – played a special high profile concert in the David Geffen Hall at New York City’s Lincoln Center called ‘Out On a Limb’, in support of Janie’s Fund, his new philanthropic initiative to serve abused and neglected girls. Lighting the show was LD Nathan Alves, who used 12 x Robe BMFL Spots to produce most of the major signature looks.

LAS VEGAS – For VCA Technology’s booth at the ISC West trade show, which took place at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas April 6-8, Altitude Exhibits used PixelFLEX 3.9mm FLEXLite NXG LED video display panels. Altitude Exhibits President Jeremy Luther conceptualized a layout with two FLEXLite NXG LED screens that would showcase the VCA Technology software. He then went through a few revisions that led him to finalize on one large 80” tall by 240” wide FLEXLite NXG LED wall for maximum visual impact.

A Monolithic Staging and Video Achievement For Beyoncé

MIAMI – Beyonce’s Formation tour has been wowing the crowds with a monolithic video structure that measures 22 by 16 by 9 meters in size and is embedded in a 62 by 35 meter stage. The monolith is the centerpiece of Es Devlin’s production design. Working with other production companies, staging supplier Stageco helped make it all happen for the tour, which finishes its first North American leg June 14, heads to Europe June 28, and returns for more U.S. shows from Sept. 7-Oct. 2.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Tour Rig Includes Martin Moving Lights

LOS ANGELES – LD Jeff Ravitz, longtime LD for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, included MAC Viper Profiles and MAC Aura fixtures for their 2016 River tour (first 2016 U.S. leg), which ran from Jan. 16 (Pittsburgh, PA) to April 25 (Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY). The tour supports the recent release of an archival box set, The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, from the hit 1980s’ album The River, and each show featured an in-sequence, complete performance of the album’s 20 songs. The band heads to Europe this summer and returns for more U.S. shows in August and September.
