ATLANTA — NanoLumens named Gary Feather executive vice president of operations. Feather comes to NanoLumens with senior level management experience at other companies, including Sharp Electronics, where he served as senior vice president of LED Lighting. In addition, Feather is the holder of three U.S. patents, in Networked Video Devices (Number 7,594,245), Method for Processing Saturated Intervals in Video Sequences (Number 6,671,420), and Presence Based Technology (Number 8,356,317).

AMSTERDAM — LD Rob Sinclair included Clay Paky fixtures in the tour rig for Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz world tour. The rig includes Clay Paky Sharpy and Sharpy Wash 330 colored beams.

TURKU, Finland — Mein Schiff 3 (My Ship), a cruise ship recently built at the STX Finland shipyard here for Germany based TUI Cruises, features Robe moving lights within its entertainment venues, including the main theatre and nightclub venues. Chris Moylan of Berlin based Optikalusion designed the lighting systems.

When Studio 100, producers of the WWI-themed 14-18 Spektakel musical, were looking to move a 2,000-seat audience tribune up and down a 150 meter-long performance space throughout the show, they turned to Hans Willems of Wicreations. The show was staged at the Nekkerhal in Mechelen, Belgium.

MA Lighting has extended its range of 1Gbit MA 4Port and 8Port Nodes with a new range of matching 1Gbit 2Port Nodes. The range includes the MA 2Port Node, the MA 2Port Node onPC 1K and the MA 2Port Node onPC 2K (pictured here). A range of accessories is available to facilitate front or rear connections and all rack mounting and truss rigging combinations. There are also specific 2/4Port Node Power over Ethernet installation versions in development which should be available later this year.

PIGEON FORGE, TN – For the Great American Country Show at the Dollywood theme park here, LD Susan Rose paired Chauvet Professional’s Q-Series moving fixtures with the production’s lavish video wall imagery. Rose used 16 Q-Spot 560-LED 180-watt moving yoke fixtures, eight Q-Spot 360-LED moving yoke spot fixtures, and eight Q-Wash 560Z-LED RGBWA washes, chosen for their ability to keep pace with the bright video looks.

German-Turkish Cultural Olympiad Lighting Rig Includes Clay Paky Fixtures

MUNICH, Germany – For the fourth German-Turkish Cultural Olympiad, an event that aspires to strengthen mutual cultural awareness, education and understanding, show lighting designer and operator Chris Schatz (Klinkertorstudios) used an MA system to manage 60 Clay Paky Sharpys and 20 Alpha Spot HPE 1500s.

Lighting Rig at Royal Opera House includes Martin Fixtures

LONDON — The Royal Opera House (ROH) in London’s Covent Garden, home to The Royal Opera, The Royal Ballet and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, stages more than 400 productions each season. The venue’s production team relies on a lighting rig with close to a thousand fixtures, including a variety of fixtures from Harman’s Martin Professional.

LENGWIL-OBERHOFEN, Switzerland – Laserworld Group, based here, announced July 11 that HB-Laserkomponenten GmbH (HB-Laser) is joining the company’s ranks. The merger, for an undisclosed sum, also involved an undisclosed shift in ownership, but Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany-based HB-Laser will remain a separate legal entity and will retain its brand identity. No changes to either company’s management or staff were announced.
