RIGA, Latvia — LD Normunds Blasans specified Philips Vari-Lite’s VL3015LT Spots, VL3500 and VL3000 Washes for an open-air event featuring music from 20,000 performers celebrating Latvian culture here recently. NA Stage & Light supplied 20 VL3015LT Spot luminaires, 16 VL3000 Washes, and 24 VL3500 Wash fixtures for the 25th Latvian Song and Dance Festival, which drew an audience of more than 40,000.

LIVERPOOL, U.K. — LD Nick Richings specified Showline’s SL PAR 150 Zoom luminaires for the current musical tour of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. White Light is supplying the gear for the tour, with stops at theatres across the U.K. including Glasgow’s King’s Theatre, the Bristol Hippodrome and the Liverpool Empire. The tour will continue through May 2014.

MANCHESTER, U.K. — dbn Lighting, based here, once again supplied lighting and LED screens to the Warehouse Project (WHP), a series of EDM events founded by Sacha Lord-Marchionne and Sam Kandel. WHP operates for two regular nights each week from September to New Year’s Eve on a timeline coinciding with university and college schedules. It attracts international EDM DJs and live acts and sells out months in advance. This was the second year the club has operating out of the Victoria Warehouse venue in Trafford Park. dbn’s Pete Robinson has been involved with WHP from the start. This year he created the production and lighting design for all three rooms in the space.

PIGEON FORGE, TN — AV Concepts worked with the Dollywood theme park here and Fred Blurton Productions to integrate holographic technology into its first production of Dollywood’s A Christmas Carol as part of the annual annual Smoky Mountain Christmas presented by Humana celebration. Adapted from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, the show, which debuted Nov. 9, includes four holographic characters.

AUSTIN, TX — LD Marty Postma, who has been tinkering with the idea of wrapping and enveloping the rock band Alice In Chains with a lighting rig that surrounds them “like a shell” for several years, got the chance to “make it happen on a large scale” with gigs earlier this year. The fixtures specified for these shows centered on gear from High End Systems, including their ShowGun, Cyberlight 2.0, Intellaspot and TechnoArc units.
