AV Gear Helps Oregon Museum Reel In Visitors

HOOD RIVER, OR — The History Museum of Hood River County recently opened a gallery devoted to Luhr Jensen & Sons, the manufacturer of fishing gear that operated in the vicinity for nearly 75 years before it was acquired by Finland-based Rapala VMC Corp. in 2005. Media Matrix Productions used gear from Alcorn McBride to lure visitors with motion sensor-launched video presentations.

Drawing visitors with art, live music and other performances in Manchester’s Whitworth Park and Gallery, the public got the chance to view the final days of the Whitworth Art Gallery before the building closed for a £18 million refurbishment.

LOS ANGELES — Headliners for the 12th annual Honda Civic Tour, Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson, are being joined on the 34-date jaunt from Aug. 1 (St. Louis, MO) to Oct. 6 (Los Angeles) by The Voice contestants Rozzi Crane, Tony Lucca, and PJ Morton. Also joining the tour: 64 MAC III Air FX fixtures, according to Harman’s Martin Lighting Business Unit. The rig also includes 42 Martin Atomic 3000 Strobes with scrolling ability.

NEW YORK — LD Clifton Taylor lit the New York Philharmonic’s A Dancer’s Dream: Two Works by Stravinsky with a lighting rig that included Showline SL BAR 640, Philips Selecon PLCyc LED, Philips Vari-Lite VL3500 Spot, VL1000 ERS and VL5B Wash luminaires from Philips Entertainment Lighting. The production combined two of Igor Stravinsky’s ballet scores, “The Fairy’s Kiss” and “Petrushka,” into one production.
